Teaching / Masterclasses

Damian has a wealth of teaching experience, giving masterclasses in conservatoires worldwide as well as teaching privately. He is Head of Conducting at London Performing Academy of Music, an independent international music conservatoire in London offering high level classical music education.

Damian Iorio’s conducting technique is based on the teaching of the great pedagogue Ilya Musin, with whom he studied in St Petersburg. Through his experience of conducting orchestras from youth level up to the world’s most important orchestras, he has developed an understanding of how to adapt to the challenges of conducting on different levels.

Nothing will ever replace the experience of standing in front of an orchestra and feeling how the musicians react to your gesture. However, in an online class or one-to-one setting, it is possible to concentrate on many aspects of conducting:

  • conducting technique
  • score preparation
  • interpretative choices
  • rehearsal technique
  • professional and career mentorship

For private teaching in presence or online, please contact me directly through my social media channels or the contact form.
